Where To Go: St. Elmo | Stay The Trail

Chaffee County, Colorado

This trail system leads through the southern Collegiate Peaks, near the bases of Mt. Princeton and Mt. Antero. A number of the local trails cross the Continental Divide over to the Tincup and Taylor Park region.

Take Hwy 285 south through Nathrop. Turn right (west) on County Road 162 and follow past the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. The road will turn to dirt and change names to Chalk Creek Road. There are a few sections where the riding of unlicensed OHVs is permitted, but pay attention to the signs. The pin point marker is at the staging area just before entering St. Elmo.
