General Information
Most roads and trails in Colorado are closed during the snow-packed Winter months and during the Spring run-off season to prevent excess erosion. Exact opening and closing dates vary from year-to-year based on conditions and some roads and trails may be closed for maintenance or special events without notice. It is always advisable to call the land management agency that manages a road or trail a day or two in advance of your planned visit to ensure that the road or trail is open.
For roads and trails on lands managed by the Forest Service, seasonal trail opening and closing dates can be found on the motor vehicle use maps (MVUMs) for that forest. These dates can vary from year-to-year based on conditions so call the Forest Service office listed on the front of the MVUM to double check the dates before making plans.

For agencies not listed below or for the latest up-to-date trail and road conditions, please call the appropriate Forest Service, State Parks, or BLM office for the area you plan to visit.
