Taylor Park, located on the west side of the Collegiate Peaks, offers an incredible spot for that weekend or week-long getaway. With miles of nearby trails for all types of vehicles, there is never a shortage of places to explore with your friends and family.

Detailed Description

Push Pin location is at the Taylor Park Trading Post, on the eastern side of the lake.

How To Get There

From Gunnison:

Take Highway 135 north towards Crested Butte. When you reach Almont, turn right (northeast) on County Road 742. Follow this up the canyon along the Taylor River. Once at Taylor Park, turn right on County Road 765, and the Trading Post is on the left, along with a large staging area. Unlicensed OHVs are not permitted on CR742, but an OHV route has been built alongside the road to facilitate travel to the north.

From Buena Vista:

Take West Main Street out of Buena Vista, which turns into County Road 306. This leads west up over Cottonwood Pass, at which the road changes to CR 209 and turns to gravel. Follow this directly into Taylor Park, and take a left on CR742 to head south to the Trading Post. Note: Cottonwood Pass has many tight turns and can be rough depending on weather and traffic conditions. Caution is advised for larger vehicles and trailers.

All vehicles operated on designated OHV routes in Colorado must have a registration or permit issued by Colorado State Parks including those of non-residents. For more information, visit the State Parks OHV Program Page.
Some vehicles such as ATVs and side-by-sides are never street legal in Colorado even if licensed and plated in their home state. These vehicles must have a valid Colorado OHV registration or permit to be used on trails on public lands in Colorado.
This symbol indicates areas where most routes are open only to licensed, street-legal vehicles. Please refer to the MVUM for designated ATV and dirt bike routes.
