Rangely Rock Crawling!

Posted by Justin on September 28, 2009

Rangely, CO -  Stay The Trail joined the Rangely Rock Crawling Club in Northwestern Colorado over the weekend for their annual Rock Crawl Competition.  The Rangely club works closely with the Bureau of Land Management field office to effectively manage a large area southwest of the Town of Rangely.  This has included the creation and maintenance of a series of trails, with various levels of difficulty, as well as a couple rock outcroppings that allow for open travel.

A good number of competitors showed up, ranging from locals to a number from the Grand Junction and Montrose areas, and even a couple from Denver.  The competition itself provided tons of entertainment, including a few rollovers, to keep the crowd entertained.

After the competition was over on Saturday, everyone met in town for a great BBQ and prize giveaway.  The club had collected thousands of dollars worth of prizes from companies near and far.  Sunday everyone went out on trail rides and played in the rocks, taking advantage of all the hard work the club and the BLM have put into the area.
